Body shop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask review

I can assure you, my face FEELS a lot nicer than it looks covered in murky green muck…

I must admit. The hype made me do it. It seemed everyone was talking about how amazing the superfood body shop face masks were and of course, I had to try for myself. There is now a collection of 5 natural masks to choose from, depending on skin type. I’ve mentioned in previous posts that I have a tendency to go for the best smelling product rather than one that is recommended for my skin. The Himalayan Charcoal purifying glow mask is my favourite of the five in scent and consistency. Whereas the rose mask has a jelly-like texture, this one feels like oatmeal containing bits of, what I’m guessing is green tea leaves.  It’s made using bamboo charcoal and tea tree oil. The charcoal helps to draw out impurities and excess oils to leave skin brighter. The scent is SUPER fresh and menthol, so fresh that I had to squint a little! Imagine holding toothpaste close to your eyes… After a few minutes of wearing this mask, my boyfriend asked from the next room “what’s that smell?! 😀 So the scent is pretty strong! Many people are using a neat little brush to apply but I use my fingers, because why the hell not. After the initial tingle-tastic shock, you can settle into relax mode.

5 – 10 minutes is the recommended using time before rinsing off. I end up leaving it on for a good 20 mins… I was watching Game of Thrones and just couldn’t look away! (The Lannisters Vs Dothraki & Daenerys episode for those who are interested – Best episode yet!)

Be sure not to put this product too close to your eyes! The first time I did, my eyes started to burn. This did wear off after a few mins. I do have the worlds most sensitive eyes though, chopping the end off an onion is enough to set me off in floods of tears (Does anyone else keep sunglasses in their kitchen for onion chopping? No? Just me then)There is no glamorous way to rinse this product off. I use warm water and a flannel. Once I’m done my face looks brighter and feels SO incredibly fresh. Face masks don’t usually wow me as the effect is often gone once washed off. However, I can see why this product is so popular, it really does live up to the hype. This isn’t a cheap product but it also won’t break the bank. nonetheless, this mask feels luxurious on my skin and I look forward to using it again and again.
